Durrants Hill Fishery is a new gravel pit complex dug in 1984 and it is leased from Dacorum Borough Council, it consists of 2 lakes known as lake A and lake B. Lake A is for exclusive use by club members and their guests (subject to club by-laws). Lake B is a day ticket water. Both lakes vary in depth from 3 to 12 feet and they were originally stocked with Tench to over 7 lb, Roach in excess of 2 lb plus a healthy head of large Crucian Carp, Rudd and Perch. Since then further Tench, Roach and more recently Bream have been introduced.
The picture above shows the typical stamp of bream to be
expected at Durrants: this four pounder fell to simple tactics and a
single maggot bait. As with the Mere these waters are monitored and stocked as part of our Club fishery policy. All species can be caught on a variety of baits including bread, sweetcorn, maggot, caster and lobworm for some good Perch. Because the lakes are spring fed a more consistent water temperature allows good fishing throughout the year. Night fishing is not allowed on the day ticket lake. Car parking is available, for members, within the perimeter of lake A. Please park sensibly and do not obstruct access.
